Long Beach, Calif., Recieves Federal Grant To Cope With C-17 Production Sunset

The city of Long Beach California has received a nearly $4 million grant to offset the economic impact and job loss caused by the shuttering of the Boeing [BA] C-17 Globemaster aircraft production facility there.The $3.99 million grant is through the Defense Department’s Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA), which provides “community adjustment assistance” to cities facing reductions in local and regional defense industry jobs. The federal funds are part of a larger $4,4 million project in which Long Beach will develop…
