Lockheed Martin [LMT] has delivered to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) the first set of new P-3 Orion wings. The wings are a key part of the Aircraft Service Life Extension Program to keep the P-3 surveillance planes operations. The re-winging project is expected to extend the P-3’s service life between 20 to 25 years. The re-winging contract was agreed to in April 2008 and calls for up to 14 production wing life extension kits. So far CBP has ordered six kits. CBP has 16 P-3s in its fleet.
