The final, conferenced version of the fiscal year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act authorizes procurement of one Virginia-class attack submarine (SSN) and an additional $357 million in incremental funding to support a second platform, while lawmakers have criticized the Navy for a “lack of transparency” into the program’s funding strategy.
