Harris Corp. [HRS] yesterday said it has acquired Patriot Technologies, LLC, a small firm providing healthcare information technology, imaging and enterprise software solutions to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Harris said that Pennsylvania-based Patriot has about 100 employees and will become part of its Healthcare Solutions business unit, which currently serves the Departments of Defense and Health and Human Services.
Harris, like other companies in the federal IT market, is positioning itself to be able to play a bigger role in the federal healthcare IT space.
“With this acquisition, Harris is well-positioned for a lead role in VA healthcare information technology and broader federal healthcare integration,” Howard Nance, chairman, president and CEO of Harris, said in a statement.
Houlihan Lokey served as Patriot’s financial adviser on the deal. Harris said that Patriot’s senior management is joining Harris Healthcare Solutions.
