Firms Hope Contracts Would Withstand JFCOM Closure

By Emelie Rutherford Some defense companies that contract with U.S. Joint Forces Command said they are hopeful their business deals will remain in place if Defense Secretary Robert Gates prevails in shuttering the Norfolk, Va. facility. Because JFCOM employs more contractors than in-house Pentagon personnel, its many service-support contracts are on shaky ground. But defense firms said they hope business deals they have with JFCOM in areas such as training would persist and migrate elsewhere in the Department of Defense…
