The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for the Time Recorded Ubiquitous Sensor Technologies (TRUST) Project, which is focused on detecting the presence of dangerous cargo and anomalous substances while operating inside a cargo shipping container from the time it is packed and sealed overseas until it reaches its U.S. port of destination, assumed to be a maximum of 21 days, exploiting the long dwell times associated with such voyages.
