KDH on CBP Contract for Body Armor

KDH Defense Systems, Inc., has been selected to compete for task orders under Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) potential $48.7 million multiple-award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract for personal body armor and related accessories. The contract is a small business set aside. “This award, one of the largest domestic law enforcement contracts for personal body armor in the United States, represents a significant milestone in the company’s history,” says Dave Herbener, president and CEO of KDH. “Along with our recent sales to the U.S. military, this continued growth and diversification of both our products and customer base underscores the expanding market share of KDH’s industry leading body armor solutions.”

AS&E Gets Follow-On ZBV Order from African Country

American Science and Engineering [ASEI] has received an order for four Z Backscatter Vans (ZBV) from a country in Africa for law enforcement applications. The customer currently has two ZBVs in operation that were purchased in September. The latest order brings to six the number of ZBVs that the unidentified customer will have. “Since their original deployment less than two months ago, the ZBV systems have proven their detection capability to our law enforcement customer,” says Anthony Fabiano, president and CEO.

China Orders More Shoe Scanning Devices from IDO Security

IDO Security [IDOI] has received a purchase order for additional units of its MagShoe 3G shoe scanning device from China for aviation security. The order comes on the heels of IDO fulfilling a purchase order from its partner in China, Beijing Hwan Technology & Trade Co. IDO and Beijing Hwan have installed MagShoe units in more than 20 airports throughout China, making it one of the largest markets utilizing the shoe scanning devices. “We are extremely excited to see a continued demand for our MagShoe units in China,” says Avishai Rotshtain, product manager for IDO Security. “It is clear that the safety of its travelers throughout the many airports in China has become a priority as the China Civil Aviation authority recently raised its security standards to Level 2 at major airports.”

SAIC gets $90M Subcontract to Support DHS HQ Relocation

General Dynamics [GD] has awarded Science Applications International Corp. [SAI] a potential $90 million subcontract to support the relocation of the Department of Homeland Security’s headquarters to the old Saint Elizabeth’s hospital campus. SAIC will provide information technology integration and implementation services. The award has a seven-year base period.

SAIC Selected to Compete on Potential $900M Support Contract for JIEDDO

Science Applications International Corp. [SAI] says it has been awarded a prime contract by the General Services Administration  to provide technology and systems engineering services to the Defense Department’s Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) Counter IED Operations/Intelligence Integration Center. The multiple award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract has a two-year base period and three one-year options with a ceiling value of $900 million for all awardees. Work will be done in Washington, D.C., Iraq and Afghanistan.
