Coast Guard Interested in High-Power Microwaves To Stop Small Craft, Drones

The Coast Guard is surveying the market for non-lethal high-power microwave (HPM) technologies for use in the maritime environment to shut down electronic systems on small watercraft and unmanned systems, the service said this week. The HPM systems could be used at fixed sites such as piers or on cutters and small craft that are underway, according to Request for Information (RFI) in the May 6 government business opportunities site Sam.gov.
