Camber Corp. yesterday said it has acquired Novonics Corp., a developer and supplier of tactical systems software and simulation systems, giving it new capabilities and expanding its customer base within the Navy.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Novonics, which is based in Washington, D.C., has more than $10 million in annual sales.
Novonics provides Web-based training products including team training and interactive online training, emergency preparedness for the Navy, and also has a sight alignment and aim point simulator, all of which are new capabilities for Camber.
Camber, which is based in Alabama, provides tactical training and simulation for the Army’s AH-64 Apache attack helicopter program and its Grey Eagle unmanned aircraft system, a variant of the Predator.
Camber said that with decreasing budgets there is increasing demand for more effective and efficient training.
“Novonics will build upon Camber’s existing foundation of simulation-based training, network test and evaluation, command and control, information management, and training architectures,” Walter Baston, Camber’s CEO, said in a statement. “The merging of our teams will provide our customers and the simulation community with even higher quality solutions for their mission requirements.”
Novonics will become part of Camber’s Aerospace and Defense Group. Novonics has more than 130 employees, and also has offices in Bloomington, Ind., San Diego, Orlando and Virginia Beach. Its senior management will remain with the company.
