CBP Issues RFP for Block II Drive-Through Low Energy Portals

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued its anticipated Request for Proposal (RFP) for drive-through low energy portals under its Non-Intrusive Inspection program. The agency anticipates a five-year, multiple award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contract worth up to $390 million. CBP says the portals will be used to inspect vehicles for illegal contraband and provide a detailed image of the vehicle from the roof to the ground, allowing operators to quickly identify organic compounds such as drugs, currency and explosives, as well as high density objects, weapons and stowaways. The portals will be used in both pre-primary and secondary screening. CBP will use the portals to screen passenger occupied vehicles and buses, cars, sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, motorcycles, commercial vans, dual-rear wheeled trucks and towed trailers, recreational vehicles, truck tractors with empty trailers and trailers. The drive-through portals will enable CBP to significantly expand the number of vehicles entering the U.S. at land ports of entry. Notice ID:70B03C20R00000127. Respond by March 8.
