The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology branch plans to award iControl a one-year contract as part of its requirement to demonstrate the security capabilities of the Electronic Chain of Custody in the global supply chain in conjunction with a European Union program. iControl has supplied its container security devices to S&T since 2005 for various demonstration projects to enhance the security of shipping and trucking containers in transit.

The Department of Homeland Security Federal Protective Service has awarded Smiths Detection a $776,867.28 six-month to continue the leasing and maintenance of X-Ray machines and ancillary equipment at various locations throughout the U.S. The extension gives the agency time to conduct a source selection and issue award of a follow-on contract.

John Sanders, a former executive with Reveal Imaging Technology and recently resigned from the Transportation Security Administration as the chief of the Office of Security Capabilities, has been elected to the board of American Science and Engineering [ASEI]. “In addition to his deep expertise in aviation security technologies, John has broad private and public security industry experience as well as proven leadership in business strategy, government contracts, and operations,” says Chuck Dougherty, president and CEO of AS&E. Benchmark Co. security analyst Josephine Millward believes Sanders will be an asset in “executing” AS&E’s growth strategy.
