Vidsys says its has been selected to provide the security management software platform for the USA Pavilion for this year’s world’s fair, Expo Milano 2015 in Italy. “It is an honor to support the U.S. State Department and the world’s fair by providing our intelligent security and risk management software that will be used to help secure and provide real-time situational awareness at the USA Pavilion,” says James Chong, founder and CEO of Vidsys.
Implant Sciences Corp. [IMSC] is undertaking restructuring actions designed to reduces its annual pre-tax operating costs by about $2 million. The company expects to incur a $200,000 pre-tax charge in the quarter ended March 31 due to the restructuring. The actions, which are being undertaken to better align costs with current and future geographic revenue sources and to improve efficiencies, relocating its San Diego advanced technology office, closing its Shanghai office, and converting its sales model in Southeast Asia from direct selling to in-country distribution. Implant is trying to “establish a balance in our operations between revenue and cost control, thereby reducing our reliance on external funding,” says CEO Bill McGann.

Keeping IDentities Safe, a non-profit committed to government and private entities that issue identity credentials, says that Arizona and Idaho recently joined the majority of states moving forward with REAL ID compliance. The 2005 federal law prohibits federal agencies from accepting driver’s licenses as identification for “official purposes,” such as boarding airplanes unless the state issuing those licenses meets standards set by the Department of Homeland Security. So far 45 states have either been certified by DHS as meeting the REAL ID standards or have been granted an extension to meet the standards. The law is expected to be fully implemented in 2016, after which driver’s licenses from non-compliant states will not be accepted as proof of identity for domestic flights.
