The Navy awarded the Bell [TXT]-Boeing [BA] Joint Program Office a $1.6 billion logistics requirements contract on Jan. 6 that covers the repair, replacement, required availability, configuration management, and inventory management for supply support for Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force V-22 aircraft components.
The contract has a five-year base period with no options and covers the logistics works for 228 total aircraft. The Marine Corps uses the MV-22B variant, the Navy the CMV-22, and the Air Force the CV-22.
Work will be split between Fort Worth, Texas (97 percent) and Ridley Park, Pa. (three percent) and is expected to be finished by December 2026.
$247 million in Navy annual working capital funds will be issued for a delivery order that will be awarded concurrently and initially obligated at the time of award as an “undefinitized contract action” with a commitment for another $82 million for the January – December 20222 period of performance. Funds are not due to expire at the end of this fiscal year.
Last September, the first Air Force CV-22 set to receive improved nacelles arrived at Bell’s plan in Amarillo, Texas. That was starting work awarded last December in an $81 million contract awarded by Naval Air Systems Commanded for CV-22 nacelle improvement (Defense Daily, Sept. 24, 2021).
