By Emelie Rutherford The Army's massive Future Combat Systems (FCS) modernization program emerged in decent shape from the recently completed budget round, receiving more funding from defense appropriators than the Pentagon requested, and a smaller reduction than previously proposed by authorizers on Capitol Hill. The FCS program is aimed at developing a networked system-of-systems that includes unmanned aircraft, manned and unmanned ground vehicles, munitions, and sensors.
