Airbus Group began operating under its new name at the start of this year, shedding its former name, European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co. as part of a rebranding and restructuring effort (

Defense Daily, Jan. 2). The company’s three operating divisions are Airbus, which makes commercial airplanes, Airbus Defence and Space, and Airbus Helicopters.

The company’s shareholders approved all 10 resolutions proposed at the Annual General Meeting today, including the amendment to its Articles of Association to adopt the Airbus Group name.

Airbus Group settled on its new name and organizational structure last summer to capitalize on the global recognition of the Airbus name. Airbus competes with Boeing [BA] worldwide for commercial airplane sales. The company wants to bring that global recognition to its other products.
