The Air Force is scheduled to perform an operational test launch of an unarmed Minuteman III ICBM Tuesday morning between 6:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. EDT, according to a service statement. Launch will take place from Vandenberg AFB, Calif. The purpose is to validate and verify the effectiveness, readiness and accuracy of the weapon system.
