The Air Force awarded Lockheed Martin [LMT] two production contracts totaling $449 million for the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) and the Extended Range (ER) variant, the company said on Thursday.

The awards for Lots 11 and 12 will produce 340 JASSM missiles and 100 JASSM-ER missiles. The contracts are only the third and fourth lots to include the extended-range version. In addition to the missiles, Lockheed Martin will provide systems engineering, logistics support, tooling and test equipment.

“These contracts bring the total number of JASSM cruise missiles on contract to over 2,100, and underscore the U.S. Air Force’s and Lockheed Martin’s commitment to the program,” Jason Denney, program director of Long Range Strike Systems at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, said in a statement.

The Air Force plans to acquire 4,900 JASSM missiles. JASSM is carried on the Air Force’s F-16, F-15E, B-52, B-2 and B-1B, which also carries JASSM-ER. The missile will eventually be fitted to the F-35 Lightning II. Internationally, JASSM is integrated into the Australian and Finnish air forces.

JASSM is assembled at Lockheed Martin’s facility in Troy, Ala.
