White House Requests $7.3 Billion To Keep Funding Columbia, Virginia Sub Construction Shortfall

The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on Monday requested another $7.3 billion from Congress to continue to build the Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) and cover shortfalls for three Virginia-class attack submarines (SSN). A senior Navy official told reporters Monday that OMB the requested two anomalies divided into $1.59 billion to continue the Columbia-class program during a continuing resolution and $5.69 billion in emergency appropriations for Virginia-class cost overruns and to provide wage and productivity enhancements.
