State Department Approves $5.9 Billion In Potential FMS Deals

The Department of State last Friday evening approved more than $5.9 Billion in potential foreign military sales (FMS) to four countries, including a $4.7 billion deal to refurbish and upgrade Egypt’s fleet of M1A1 Abrams tanks into the M1A1SA configuration. General Dynamics [GD] is the contractor for the tank upgrade, which will be done at the Egyptian Tank Plant in Cairo, Egypt. Egypt has asked for the FMS to upgrade 555 tanks to include as many AN/VAS-5B driver vision enhancement…
