Siemens Energy Selected For DIU LOC-NESS Naval Energy Project

The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), working with Program Executive Office (PEO) Ships, selected Siemens Energy to develop a prototype maritime energy storage system to be installed on a Navy platform. DIU noted future Navy platforms need improved power and energy production, storage and distribution for new maritime applications, including directed energy weapons. However, these systems will require increased on-board storage capacity and power conversion systems, thus the development of the DIU Long Operation Combatant Naval Energy Storage System (LOC-NESS) project.…
