Senate Confirms Noem As Homeland Security Secretary

The Senate last Saturday voted 59 to 34 to confirm Kristi Noem as the new secretary of homeland security. The favorable vote included seven Democrats, John Fetterman (Pa.), Maggie Hassan (N.H.), Tim Kaine (Va.), Andy Kim (N.J.), Gary Peters (Mich.), ranking member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Patty Shaheen (N.H.), and Elissa Slotkin (Mich.). All Republicans, with the exception of Jerry Moran (Kan.), who did not vote, favored the appointment. Noem in a statement after her confirmation…
