Sogitec Industries announced that the NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) and the French Defense Procurement Agency (Direction générale de l’armement, DGA) declared the second French Army NH90 Caïman Multi-Role Training Device (MRTD) ready for training at full operational capacity, the company said on Dec. 10.

The second MRTD, produced by Sogitec, is located at the 1st Combat Helicopter Regiment at Phalsbourg Army Base in eastern France. The first MRTD has been in service since Fall 2013 at the NH90 Joint Training Center at the French Army Aviation Academy in Le Luc, Southeastern France.

The First MRTD was declared ready for training on Dec. 4, 2013.

The announcement concludes the entry into service phase of the French Army Aviation’s first two fully functional MRTDs.

The MRTD is a Full Mission Simulator (FMS) with EASA level D helicopter modeling and tactical simulation covering the full range of NH90 missions. It also meets flight and navigation training needs such as conversion-to-type, instrument flight, and fault and failure management, Sogitec noted.

This international program provides for the development and production of seven training devices: six MRTDs and a Full Flight Simulator (FFS) for the French Army, the French Navy, and the Finnish Army.
