Rolls-Royce to Offer F130 System for New B-52 Engines, Will Build in Indianapolis

Rolls-Royce officially plans to pitch its F130 engine to replace the aging systems on the Air Force’s B-52 Stratofortress strategic bomber, in a possible three-way competition with Pratt & Whitney [UTX] and GE Aviation [GE] for a potentially lucrative contract. Rolls-Royce announced Feb. 25 that it plans to offer the F130 engine, which is based on its commercial BR725 system to replace the B-52’s current P&W TF33-PW-103 systems.
