PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 27, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Artificial Intelligence (AI) security and defense company Synapse Technology today announced that the Air Force awarded the company a second contract to develop and deploy artificial intelligence technology for detecting weapons, sharps, and Improvised Explosive Devices at X-ray security checkpoints at Air Force bases.

These X-ray machines are used to screen passenger baggage and are manned by Airmen tasked with identifying Transportation Security Administration prohibited items and military oriented threats. Using AI to assist in identifying hard to find contraband, weapon and explosive components will provide enhanced accuracy and expedite baggage-screening processes.

“Deploying our product in an operational environment at stateside and international bases will enable Synapse to create customized detection solutions for the Air Force “said Madeline Zimmerman, business development lead for Synapse Technology.

“We’re excited to work with Synapse to deploy the AI technology at our bases. Keeping our passengers safe is our top priority,” said Steven Rustin, Chief of Passenger Policy Branch, Headquarters Air Mobility Command.

Synapse Technology looks forward to continuing its close relationship with the Air Force and will continue to develop cutting-edge AI technology to keep military personnel safe.

About Synapse Technology
Synapse Technology’s AI platform Syntech ONE® integrates with new and existing X-ray machines used at security checkpoints. Instead of security screeners relying solely on human cognitive abilities to identify threats like guns and knives, Syntech ONE augments and automates the detection of these dangerous items. Syntech ONE has already been widely deployed, having processed over 15 million passenger bags at security checkpoints in four countries. The US Department of Homeland Security recognizes the value of Syntech ONE and has granted Synapse Technology Corporation a Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act award for its technology platform.
