ROCKVILLE, Md., Dec. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — SATELLITE Conference & Exhibition, the largest global satellite and space technology show, will be held May 6-9, 2019 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. Startup Space is a unique chance for innovative entrepreneurs who are looking to change the future of the satellite landscape to make a real difference.

This is the third year SATELLITE 2019 will be hosting Startup Space, a competition where entrepreneurs pitch their business and technology ideas to a panel of highly accomplished space professionals, investors, thought leaders, and fellow entrepreneurs. The event takes place all day on Tuesday, May 7, directly on the show floor, and is open to any of the 15,000 attendees.

Out of hundreds of applicants, only twenty will be chosen to give a five-minute pitch for their company or product in front of a panel of judges, each followed by a Q&A between the judges and the contestants.

The grand prize winner will receive:

  • Private pitch meetings with major investors
  • 1 free, full-week, full-access registration pass to the SATELLITE 2020 Conference & Exhibition
  • An interview with SATELLITE 2019 Chairman, Jeffrey Hill, to be featured in Via Satellite magazine
  • …and more!

Startup Space 2018 winner, Daniel Ceperley, Founder and CEO of LeoLabs, announced in July they had closed a $13 million Series A financing round led by global investors WERU Investment and Airbus Ventures, with participation from Space Angels and Horizon Ventures also. With this funding, LeoLabs will expand its network of next-generation radars for tracking small debris and satellites in LEO, and accelerate development of its ground-breaking LEO mapping and SSA platform.
