Pentagon official James “Jimmy” MacStravic is expected to replace outgoing Defense Department acquisition chief Frank Kendall on a temporary basis, a department spokesman said Jan. 18.Pentagon_anddowntown_

MacStravic, who currently serves under Kendall as assistant secretary of defense for acquisition, is slated to become acting undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics when Kendall leaves that post later this week. Kendall’s permanent successor in the Trump administration has not yet been announced.

MacStravic previously served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for tactical warfare systems and has held positions in the Air Force, the Navy and the U.S. mission to NATO. He holds two degrees in naval architecture and marine engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master of business administration from George Mason University.
