LORD Corp. this week said it has agreed to acquire micro-sensor developer and supplier MicroStrain Inc., expanding its capabilities and geographic footprint.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
LORD, which is based in North Carolina, develops and manufactures technologies used in the management of vibration, motion and noise control in various markets, including aerospace and defense. LORD said the pending acquisition would add new capabilities and expand its geographic reach.
MicroStrain, which is based in Vermont, makes energy harvesting sensors, inertial sensors, displacement sensors, wireless sensing systems and gateways for a variety of industries and products, including military helicopters and unmanned systems. The company’s micro sensors are combined with embedded processors to autonomously track operational usage and to navigate and control systems.
MicroStrain has more than 50 employees.
