IronNet Cybersecurity, a cybersecurity solutions provider founded by former NSA and U.S. Cyber Command head Keith Alexander, raised $32.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Trident Capital Cybersecurity and joined by Kleiner Perkis Caufield & Beyers (KPCB), the company said Sunday.

IronNet will use the capital to continue developing a comprehensive cybersecurity solution “that aims to revolutionize cyber defense for the private sector,” the company said in a statement. Its technology currently includes real-time visualization of a company’s whole cyber infrastructure and uses behavioral models and petabyte-scale analytics to detect anomalous activity and support proactive mitigation.

Alexander, the CEO of IronNet, founded the company in 2014 with a team of former officials from the Defense Department, National Counterterrorism Center, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and commercial sector cyber experts.

The company’s founding mission is “to redefine cybersecurity based on next generation technology, cutting edge engineering, and a leadership team with decades of military, intelligence, and commercial experience,” IronNet said.

Under the funding plan, Ted Schlein, general partner of KPCB, will join IronNet’s board of directors. The board already includes Don Dixon, founder and managing director of Trident Capital Cybersecurity.

“IronNet is creating a new standard in cybersecurity by providing technology that gives our clients an unprecedented level of network visibility, data control, and security. This new funding from well-respected industry leaders like Trident Capital Cybersecurity and Kleiner Perkins will help accelerate our growth and scale the launch of the IronNet product line,” Alexander said in a statement.

“The IronNet team has the expertise and visibility into what works and what doesn’t in this space and they are well positioned to serve the needs of customers,” Schlein added.
