Authorization, Appropriations Bills Near Passage; Virtual Analyst to Break Down Both This Week

final_22307_Virtual_Analyst (1)With the end of the year approaching, Congress has been in a rush to pass both the defense authorization and appropriations bills. The Senate passed the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2015 on Friday, which will get the bill to the president’s desk before year’s end for the 53rd straight year, we reported. It was passed by the House on Dec. 4.

Meanwhile, the $1.01 trillion appropriations bill is awaiting a vote by the Senate after being passed by the House on Thursday along with a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government open while the Senate deliberates the bill. The House on Friday opted to extend the CR for a few more days to give the Senate until Wednesday to pass the bill.

We at Virtual Analyst will be dissecting both bills this week, providing you with a comprehensive breakdown on what the bills did to each program, as well as a comprehensive report on the biggest winners and losers in each bill.
