GD NASSCO Nabs $148 Million Contract For USS Cowpens Modernization

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) awarded General Dynamics’ [GD] National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. (NASSCO) a $148 million contract for the FY ’18 modernization of the USS Cowpens (CG-62).The firm-fixed price contract covers a “long-term” modernization period availability for the Ticonderoga-class cruiser that includes modernization, maintenance, and repairs.The contract includes options that, if exercised, would raise the total value to $155 million.The contract was competitively procured in a full and open competition and competed on a West Coast-wide basis,…
