FLIR Systems announced this week a number of recent orders are expanding the company’s presence on Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopters.
Since the beginning of 2009, more than 60 of FLIR Systems’ Star SAFIRE and BRITE Star class systems have been ordered for U.S. and international installations on this platform.
FLIR Systems continues to provide the sensors of choice for Black Hawks around the world through the following procurements:
- Selection of the Talon class of compact multi-sensor systems for U.S. Army HH-60M Black Hawks
- First decision by an international customer to deploy the BRITE Star II on a Black Hawk
- Selection by an unnamed U.S. customer of the Star SAFIRE HD for a Black Hawk
- Decisions by the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain in favor of the Star SAFIRE III for their Black Hawk fleets
FLIR Systems has delivered more than 200 systems from the Star SAFIRE product line for Black Hawk operations with various U.S. government agencies including the Army and Air Force, as well as six allied nations, the company said.
Orders and deliveries of FLIR Sytems’ sensors have already exceeded 320 systems.
“FLIR Systems will continue to provide the most technologically advanced systems available,” William Sundermeier, president of FLIR Government Systems, said in a statement. “We are always eager to accommodate any platform with our high performance sensors.”
FLIR Systems’ business model of focusing solely on EO/IR imaging systems has allowed the company to develop key technologies and highly experienced people, resulting in a combination of in-house know-how that is unique in the industry.
