The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) yesterday launched a public cyber security awareness campaign, fulfilling a key component of the Obama administration’s Cyberspace Policy Review undertaken last year.
The “Stop. Think. Connect.” campaign is aimed at increasing public understanding of cyber threats for Americans to be safer and more secure online. The launch of the campaign coincides with the seventh annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
“The ‘Stop. Think. Connect.’ campaign will help equip the public with simple information to keep themselves and their families safe and secure on the Internet,” DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano said in a statement.
The new campaign will include cyber forums by with the National Centers of Academic Excellence and public and private sector organizations. It also includes a new web site,
http://www.dhs.gov/stopthinkconnect, which provides various free, downloadable resources and materials to help the public increase their safety and security online.
