DARPA Accelerates Flight-Testing For Unmanned VTOL Aircraft Effort

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has sped up the start of flight-testing by more than a year of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) drones in an attempt to accelerate development of the aircraft for potential use by warfighters. Flight-testing of the Early VTOL Aircraft Demonstration (EVADE) had been slated to begin in late 2026 but is now scheduled to start in late June, the agency said on June 17.
