Cross Match Technologies has introduced its handheld multi-modal biometric enrollment and identification device, called SEEK for Secure Electronic Enrollment Kit, joining L-1 Identity Solutions [ID] and Cogent Systems [COGT] as competitors in that market space. The SEEK device captures and formats standards-based flat and rolled prints, iris and facial images, which conform to the Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification. The device has an onboard 40,000- person watch list. The optical fingerprint reader can capture two flat prints simultaneously. The reader also features a sunlight filter, enabling it to work in bright sunny conditions. SEEK is being used in Iraq by FBI agents and Special Operations Command (SOCOM) is also testing the device. SOCOM currently uses Cogent’s Fusion handheld device and is looking to also acquire SEEK.
