Congress Passes 2-Month Sequestration Delay

The House voted 257 to 167 late on Jan. 1 to avert some of the so-called fiscal cliff, in part by delaying for two months sequestration budget cuts to the Pentagon. The fiscal cliff deal--which the Senate passed via an 89-8 margin hours after the new year began--would prevent the dreaded across-the-board sequestration cuts slated to start Jan. 2.
