Coast Guard RFP For NSC Will Contain Options For Future Buys

By Calvin Biesecker To help smooth out production plans for future purchases of its National Security Cutter (NSC) fleet, the Coast Guard in its pending Request for Proposals (RFP) for construction of the fourth vessel has included options for the purchase of long-lead materials and production of the fifth ship and long-lead items for the sixth ship, according to the service's new acquisition chief. Having those options in place would mean the Coast Guard won't have to create new RFPs…
