CBP Releases Draft RFP to Reopen Multirole Enforcement Aircraft Competition

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a draft Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Multirole Enforcement Aircraft (MEA) and is seeking feedback from contractors about the draft. The MEA is currently supplied by Sierra Nevada Corp. (SNC), which supplies missionized Beechcraft Super King Air 350ER twin turboprops to the agency. SNC is under contract for 12 MEAs and has delivered eight aircraft so far. SNC’s contract is nearing the end of its original performance period so the agency plans to award a follow-on aircraft. Under a new contract, the agency CBP says it will award up to 12 more aircraft. The new contract will have a one-year base period and four one-year options. An agency spokesman tells HSR that the end-state requirement for the MEAs is under review within the Department of Homeland Security. At the time of the contract to SNC in 2009, CBP said it had a requirement for 30 MEAs. Sol. No. HSBP1015R0055. Respond by Oct. 2.
