Austin Announces New $1 Billion In Weapons Aid For Ukraine Amid Future Assistance Uncertainty

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin over the weekend announced a new weapons aid package for Ukraine worth nearly $1 billion, as uncertainty looms on how security assistance efforts will continue heading into the incoming Trump administration.  The new package of capabilities includes providing drones and more munitions using Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) funds, with capabilities to be procured from industry rather than pulled from existing Pentagon inventories. “We can continue to stand up to the Kremlin.
