The Air Force yesterday awarded an additional $6.9 billion in Network Centric Solutions-2 (NETCENTS-2) contracts in response to protests to previous NETCENTS-2 awards in August, according to a Defense Department statement.

The Air Force said it received nine protests as a result of the Aug. 23 awards (Defense Daily, Aug. 28). The service said it told the Government Accountability Office (GAO) Sept. 30 that in response to the protests, it would take corrective action by awarding a contract to all offerors in the competitive range. These contract awards complete that action.

The Air Force awarded contracts to: Federal Networked Systems, Dell Federal Systems, Harris IT Services [HRS], Sterling Computers Corp., Force 3, PCMall, Insight Public Sector, Presidio Networked Solutions and FCN. The awards are firm-fixed-price, multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contracts with a maximum potential value of $6.9 billion. The period of performance is six years. The ordering period is a three-year basic period with three one-year option periods.

This contract vehicle will provide for commercially available off-the-shelf products to support the internet protocol (IP) network and will include: networking equipment, servers and storage, peripherals, multimedia, software (not included on other enterprise licenses) and identity management/biometric hardware and associated software.

The Air Force also awarded eight NETCENTS-2 contracts in April (Defense Daily, April 23).
