Lockheed Martin [LMT] and Canadian modeling, simulation and training provider CAE [CAE] signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for F-35 training system support and services in Canada, according to a Lockheed Martin statement.

Lockheed Martin spokeswoman Laura Siebert said Wednesday the agreement is for CAE to provide training services to deliver F-35 training in Canada for pilots and maintainers. Siebert said the Lockheed Martin-developed F-35 Lightning II Pilot and Maintenance Training System (PMTS) uses courseware, electronic classrooms, simulators and live flight training sorties to prepare pilots and maintainers on the F-35. Siebert said Rockwell Collins [COL] is a major suppler for the PMTS, providing the 360 degree domes for the full mission simulators.

This is not the first MoU signed between Lockheed Martin and CAE, Siebert said, as the two work together on multiple programs, including the delivery of C-130 and C-130J full mission simulators and training services to Canada.

The Air Force in mid-May started training an initial cadre of instructor pilots in F-35 aerial refueling at Eglin AFB, Fla. Once those pilots are trained in live aerial refueling, they’ll return to their respective bases to qualify others using simulators developed by Lockheed Martin (Defense Daily, May 17).
