The cybersecurity company PacketSled completed a $5 million Series A round of financing led by Keshif Ventures, the company said Thursday.

Keshif Ventures was joined by existing and new investors Blu Ventures and JHS Ventures. PacketSled will use the investments to expand its sales and marketing initiatives while also growing the engineering and operations components of the company.

PacketSled provides customers with automated network visibility, detection, incident response, and forensics in the cloud to democratize security investigations and response, the company said. The company’s Incident Response Expert Systems (IRES) technology is at the core of its product offering, which uses expert systems to automate the process of threat hunting, validation, and incident response.

The company’s clients include financial services, government, healthcare, defense and aerospace, and online services organization.

“This investment will enable us to make additional key hires in sales, engineering, and operations while we take on new marketing initiatives,” Matt Harrigan, CEO of PacketSled, said in a statement.

“PacketSled enabled us to obtain immediate visibility into a series of extremely advanced cyber attacks on our infrastructure, identifying the nature of the problem. We now use the PacketSled platform to continuously monitor our environment to keep the city, its citizens, and employees safe,” Gary Hayslip, chief information security officer (CISO) of the City of San Diego, added.
