The Air Force said yesterday it awarded Northrop Grumman [NOC] a potential $115 million contract to provide a total of 38 radar systems to Thailand and Iraq.

Northrop Grumman will supply Thailand 16 AN/APG-68(V)9 radar systems and 22 of the same radars to Iraq, according to a Defense Department statement. This foreign military sale (FMS) will also provide spares to Egypt, Morocco and Pakistan. A total of $51.4 million will be obligated at the time of the award.

Northrop Grumman’s AN/APG-68(V)9 multi-mode fire control radar is an upgrade on legacy F-16 fire control radars, providing autonomous, all-environment, precision air-to-surface targeting with a high-resolution, synthetic aperture radar ground mapping mode.

Northrop Grumman last summer was awarded an $88 million FMS contract to provide Thailand, Iraq and Oman with APG-68(V)9 radars (Defense Daily, June 21, 2012).
