
The ongoing sequester and budget uncertainties in general are preventing the start of new research and development projects within the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate, the branch chief told a Senate committee yesterday. “We haven’t begun any new projects for a while now because of budget uncertainties,” Tara O’Toole, undersecretary for S&T, told the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
