Sweden Orders $16 Million Submarine Overhaul from Saab

The Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) sent a $16 million order to Saab to overhaul the Swedish Navy submarine HMS Södermanland, the company said on Dec. 12. The order lasts from 2014-2016. It is part of a Swedish armed forces letter of intent regarding underwater capabilities in the 2015-2024 period, announced on June 9, 2014. The overhaul order comprises the necessary measures to ensure the submarine’s operational availability. One provision of the contract is to defines future needs for maintenance.…
