SRI International and the National Disaster Resiliency Center (NDRC) have agreed to collaborate on new technologies, systems, and enhanced training capabilities to assist first responders during emergency and disaster situations. Objectives of the strategic alliance include enhancing information management, disaster surveillance, and situational awareness tools, systems and processes, developing next generation equipment and systems for emergency response and disaster management, and facilitating training and analysis for federal, state, and local entities with first responders using advanced three-dimensional capabilities and technologies. SRI has a similar agreement with the Applied Science Foundation for Homeland Security, an organization focused on accelerating the transfer of technology into end user-driven products and systems for first responders and other homeland security personnel. The NDRC plans to integrate teaching, training and research while also serving as a center for the response and recover efforts in the event of a disaster by providing a public-private hub to coordinate regional, state and national disaster response.
