Raytheon [RTN] yesterday said it has acquired key assets of Ktech Corp. that will bolster its capabilities in directed energy.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Ktech’s expertise in directed energy and pulsed power make it a natural fit with Raytheon’s Advanced Security and Directed Energy Systems product line,” Taylor Lawrence, president of Raytheon Missile Systems, said in a statement. “Ktech brings world-class people, technology and strong relationships with the Air Force Research Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories to Raytheon and its customers.”

Raytheon said that Ktech’s compact pulsed power systems and its magnetron technology will enable increased integration of directed energy weapons on combat platforms.

Raytheon also said Ktech provides it with high power microwave, compact pulsed power system design, radio frequency and particle code simulation, explosive pulsed power and diagnostics and effects testing.

Ktech, which has about 400 employees and is based in New Mexico, will become part of Raytheon’s Missile Systems business. The acquisition is expected to materially impact Raytheon’s sales or earnings in 2011.
