SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Behavioral healthcare technology startup Voi has been selected to showcase its suicide detection and mental health connectivity technology at the Department of Defense’s 2018 TechConnect (DTC 2018) Innovation Summit & Expo starting on October 23. DTC 2018 convenes the world’s best emerging technologies with DOD component commands, officers, and acquisition experts, supporting innovation imperatives in the new National Defense Strategy (NDS). Voi Detect and Voi Reach were selected for the Expo from the more than 1000 technologies submitted and earned one of the top spots for medical technology.

DTC 2018 brings together defense, private industry, federal agency, and academic leadership to accelerate state-of-the-art technology solutions for the warfighter and national security. Voi will showcase in front of more than 250 DoD science and technology scouts with approximately $2.5B Small Business Innovation Research funding and $25B sourced government funds. Voi will demonstrate how its solutions, Voi Reach and Voi Detect, can solve many of the behavioral healthcare problems facing service members and their families.

Voi Detect is a HIPAA-compliant tool that features the only validated near-term suicide risk assessment that improves its detection accuracy with machine learning. Voi Detect would enable the DoD to improve its ability to identify at-risk service members efficiently and cost-effectively. Voi Reach addresses the challenge of providing ongoing support to service members. As a mobile app, Voi Reach offers the unique capability to connect service members and their natural support networks remotely, improving the care provided to the service member through machine learning, and dramatically increasing the effectiveness of the tool.

“We’re incredibly honored to have been selected and have the opportunity to demonstrate how Voi Detect and Voi Reach can help service members, and all who need support with their mental health challenges, and the impact on their safety, family, and mission,” said Voi CEO McKay Thomas. “Our solutions help address resource and location constraints that can prevent service members from receiving quality, comprehensive mental healthcare.”

DTC 2018 will take place October 23-25, 2018 and is co-located with the fall SBIR/STTR Innovation Summit at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Florida.
