Obama To Nominate Breedlove For Supreme Allied Commander Europe

President Barack Obama intends to nominate Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove to become Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and the head of U.S. European Command (EUCOM), Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said yesterday. Breedlove currently serves as U.S. Air Force Europe commander, Air Forces Africa commander, Allied Air Command Ramstein commander and Joint Air Power Competence Center director. Upon Senate confirmation, Breedlove will take over from Navy Adm. James Stavridis.
