Northrop Grumman Unveils Redesigned ICBM Target For MDA

Northrop Grumman [NOC] on Tuesday revealed it is redesigning the targets it makes for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) that mimic Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) by changing out the first stage motor. The new design will replace the older Trident C4 first stage solid rocket motor with a modified Peacekeeping SR119 motor, which the company argued will give an extended range, lift capability and payload capacity for ICBM missile defense target missions.
