The Navy recently announced it successfully tested an autonomous Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) engine continuously for 30 days. This final 720-hour, or 30-day straight, power demonstration was specifically for the MTU 8V4000M24S engine system for potential use aboard future USVs. The test was part of the larger testing regime the Navy is using to assess the resilience and capability of systems to operate autonomously for extended periods, with this engine test the final system to be evaluated.
